DailyAQI exists to give people fast, honest air-quality information. These are the standards we hold ourselves to.

Where our data comes from

Indian city readings come from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) continuous monitoring network, published through the Government of India open-data portal (data.gov.in) under the Government Open Data License – India. International readings come from public monitoring stations aggregated by OpenAQ. We compute the Air Quality Index ourselves from raw pollutant concentrations using the official CPCB method (India) and the US EPA method (international) — see our methodology.

Accuracy & honesty

We never invent, estimate or back-fill a reading and present it as a measurement. If a city has no fresh station data, its page says "data updating" rather than showing a stale or guessed number. We exclude readings that fail basic sanity checks (impossible or negative values), and we exclude carbon monoxide from the Indian AQI because the open feed reports it in units we cannot reconcile with the official breakpoints. Live coverage is shown transparently on our data-health page.

Health information

Health guidance on this site follows the published CPCB and US EPA category descriptions and widely accepted references (WHO guidelines; Berkeley Earth and the Air Quality Life Index for illustrative equivalences). It is general information, not medical advice, and never a substitute for a professional or official advisory.

Corrections

If you spot an error — a mislabelled city, a wrong coordinate, an implausible reading — email us and we will investigate and correct it promptly, noting material corrections. Accuracy matters more to us than looking complete.

Independence

DailyAQI is an independent information service, not affiliated with CPCB, OpenAQ, the US EPA or any government body. We do not accept payment to alter or suppress readings.
